About Us

Catalyst in Communities (CIC) is a Registered non-profit Community-Interest Company with an internationally renowned track record for delivering effective coaching, mentoring and training programmes across the world.

We are committed to continuous improvement, and our journey towards success acknowledges that learning is shaped by mistakes, ‘missed takes’ and unexpected paths.

Our projects are grounded in real-world experiences and tangible outcomes. Each programme undergoes rigorous refinement based on feedback and results from every delivery, ensuring continuous enhancement as we progress. This commitment to refinement allows us to consistently deliver impactful solutions that meet the evolving needs of our clients and communities.

Our diverse team of expert coaches brings together a wealth of experience from backgrounds including education, psychology, business, social work and community development. This diversity enables us to offer tailored coaching solutions that cater to a wide range of needs, from career advancement and leadership development to personal resilience and behaviour management.

We are driven by our mission to empower individuals and foster community growth through transformative services. Whether through personalised 1-to-1 coaching or specialised programmes such as ReSolve for schools, we are dedicated to creating meaningful change that strengthens entire communities.

Our ultimate goal is to inspire growth, foster resilience and empower individuals and communities.

Our Methodology: The Art of Perception

At CIC, we believe that everything is perception—and our perception is within our control. This philosophy, which we call The Art of Perception, underpins all our work. By helping individuals understand that their reality is shaped by how they see and interpret the world, we empower them to take control of their thoughts, behaviours, and ultimately, their lives.

Many of the challenges people face—whether personal, social or professional—stem from limiting beliefs, distorted perspectives or narratives imposed by external influences. Our coaching approach works to remind individuals of their ability to reshape these perceptions. Through guided self-awareness, critical thinking and intentional shifts in perspective, we support people to reclaim their personal agency, make empowered choices and unlock new possibilities for success.

By integrating this methodology into our programmes, CIC doesn’t just offer coaching. We equip people with the mindset tools to rewrite their own stories, break free from unhelpful cycles and navigate life with greater clarity, resilience, and confidence.

Alongside ‘The Art of Perception’, CIC embraces the ancient African philosophy of Ubuntu, which roughly translates to “I am because we are, and because we are, I am.” This principle highlights the importance of togetherness, unity and collective responsibility. It means that no one is left behind—our challenges are shared, and our solutions are co-created as a community. By combining Ubuntu with The Art of Perception, we create powerful, lasting and meaningful change, ensuring that both individuals and communities grow stronger together.

Our History: Transforming Communities Since 2011

Catalyst in Communities (CIC) was co-founded by Robin Lockhart and Dr. Tim Pascoe, who shared a vision of creating deep, lasting change in local communities across London. Recognising the challenges faced by young people and marginalised groups, they developed an organisation that didn’t just provide short-term support but instead transformed lives through meaningful, impactful interventions. With a commitment to personal development, social justice and systemic change, CIC quickly established itself as a leader in community-driven transformation.

In 2017, Bob Singha joined as a freelance coaching consultant and then later in 2020 he became CIC’s Director of Coaching. Bob added a wealth of experience in transformative coaching methodologies. With Robin, Tim, and Bob working together, CIC pioneered a unique approach—one that utilised coaching as a vehicle for personal and community-wide change. Through deep, transformative coaching conversations, they empowered young people to break cycles of disadvantage, build resilience and take control of their own futures. Their work extended beyond individuals, fostering a ripple effect that strengthened entire communities.

In 2018, Aran Knowles joined the team as Head of Media, adding a powerful new dimension to CIC’s impact. By combining coaching with media storytelling, CIC elevated its ability to inspire, educate, and drive change on a larger scale.

Through powerful digital content, transformative coaching and innovative media campaigns, CIC delivers groundbreaking projects to create real, lasting impact. From YouMeUs.TV, which empowered young creatives to build digital careers, to fashion-based Project ReGo, to the football-based youth intervention of The Legacy Football League, to the feature-length global documentary It Takes a Village, CIC showcases the power of youth work globally. These initiatives not only transformed the lives of participants but also set new standards for how coaching can be used to drive community-wide change.

In March 2025, Bob moved on to focus on the development of Community Coaching and Community Coach Training at bobsingha.com; and Aran moved on to start his own production company. And now, with Robin at the helm, CIC has again evolved whilst its mission remains the same: to transform lives, empower communities and build a future where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
